Yes, it happened!! We Memminger Girls, Class of 1950 can swear on a stack of Bibles that reach to Heaven that the Holocaust was, and is, a true fact. The school year began in late August or early September 1949. Our entire class of 112 girls were transferred to Rivers Jr. High Building so our revered old Memminger could be torn down. Being a senior, I was in my last year of taking French. We girls in French Class filed in Miss Aimar's room, sat at tables; and, to our surprise, Miss Aimar introduced us to a male student. "Girls, meet Monsieur Jacques Kloeppel. He will be in our class to learn English. He only speaks French, having just come from France." Jackques was seated at my table with 2 other of my classmates.

WWII had not been over long, and a Charleston Jewish family was accepting him to live with them. (Jacques was Jewish.) He had a number engraved on his arm and wore long-sleeved shirts most of the time. We'd get to working on a paper, he'd absent mindedly roll up his sleeves, and there was the tattoo. We 3 girls at the table adored him. He was so very nice, and one of his unique talents was his ability to read our cursive English writing upside down. He'd take his pen, lean over, say, "Non, non, ma chere Isabelle. C'est .....", and he'd correct me or the others. We'd help him the same way. Are you surprised we all got the highest grades in French for that year???? Holocaust???You're darned right it happened!! In the smallest of ways, we Memminger girls had a small part with one young teen-age from France who had been a prisoner.

Much later, I heard he was killed in an automobile accident. His family, I believe, was connected with Dixie Furniture Company. I'll attach it, and pass yours on, Pat. Eisenhower was shown doing what you say in the Movietone News we saw weekly at the movies. With memoriam of all the Hollocaust dead and survivors,

When I was a kid, I couldn't understand why Eisenhower was so popular. Maybe this will explain why.

General Eisenhower Warned Us.
HOLOCAUST

It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

Germany

He did this because he said in words to this effect: 'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened'

This week, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet.. However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it. It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

There were six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians, and 1,900 Catholic priests Who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beaten, experimented on and humiliated' while many in the world looked the other way! Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade Center 'NEVER HAPPENED'
